Today: IP address change

Post by Admin » 01 Dec 2009, 09:42

Dear TrashMail.net customers,

we will change in the evenings change our IP address.
There could be some outages of 5 minutes because of DNS change.

The old IP address was: 213.155.82.90 (Germany)
The new IP address will be: 69.147.224.162 (USA)

Data safety:
TrashMail.net uses an asymetric enryption method to ensure data safety for their customers.
The whole database with all TrashMail.net accounts information will run on a RAM-disk. Encrypted backups will be generated on the RAM-disk with a public key and then be moved to the hard disk.
The encryption private key will be located on another encrypted system in Germany (Europe).

If server will be shutdown, all non encrypted data will be loss immediately. Encrypted backups are generated periodically.

The migration took longer than planned.
The switch has not yet been made.
It will be posted on this forum when the switch will be made.

System 90% migrated:
Web service and mail services migrated.
There are some missing features like online stats. But it will soon be migrated.
Only for a few seconds some automatic emails could be lost. Server responded with error codes that human email writer would see, but not automatic emails from websites (because they have no reply addresses). There was too an total outage about 15 min of trashmail.net. Our backup MX servers should saved temporary all emails for later delivering.

But it seems that you didn't fix account status email at same time?

It doesn't seem to be working.
