We had a ZFS filesystem panic:
panic[cpu0]/thread=ffffff000f639c60: zfs: allocating allocated
segment(offset=422941467136 size=8192)
We had repaired the filesystem (thanks to the OpenSolaris community) and had no known data loss (thanks to the transactional functions of ZFS).
The error is probably due to a Hardware failure or ZFS bug.
We will now start a full backup of the whole server.

Re: ZFS filesystem panic
Errh? You shouldn't you take backup before s*t happens.
I always tell my friends and clients which lose "valuable" data. If it was valuable, you have backup, if it wasnt, you don't have backup. So get lost and don't bother me with your stuff.

Re: ZFS filesystem panic
At your "Software specialist" land, whole server data is valuable?
I don't think he told us that he don't keep backup of the database...

We had backups but they were outdated because of the latest server migration.Z wrote:Errh? You shouldn't you take backup before s*t happens.

Now we have a new backup.
The server itself has a lot of internal backups (every few hours complete snapshots).
Sure we can make more backups, but it would cost money at the end for the customers.
